Jean-Marie was born in the Department of l'Oise in 1933.
As a farmer, he first off all bred cows, sheep and pigs for 30 years, before specialising
in breeding ponies and horses.
Deeply intersted in genetics, he used and applied his experience to his whole work as
breeder.
In 1957, he married Françoise Hurard in Callengeville, and they had five children :
Agnès, Romain, Valérie, Pierre et Régis, who all became riders.
In 1990, the family moves to Chaumontel (Val d'Oise) where Jean-Marie, Pierre and Romain
run the SNC Lécuyer.

In 1990, the family settled in Chaumontel (Val d’Oise) where Jean-Marie, Pierre and Romain run the SNC Lécuyer.
Today Jean-Marie Lécuyer is half retired and left the management of the Haras to Pierre and Romain. However, he still personnally takes care of :
| The promoting Royal Feu | |
| Judging in young horses showing competitions | |
| The breeders' meetings in which he is very active | |
| The insemination centre, the mares coming for the covering, as well as the supervision of the foals, both in Chaumontel and in their land in Normandy | |
| The welcoming and guiding of visitors at Haras dYsieux, to whom he always enjoys explaining the way the breeding site works. |
